Professional cleaning services closed, but cleaning is not.
Yesterday afternoon my friend called me, and we had a casual conversation. We were discussing how things are going on without maid in this lockdown situation. She started telling me that she was able to manage most of the stuff except the dusting part. A Couple of days before our talk, she began to clean the house herself as professional services closed due to lockdown, but she was overwhelmed by the things needs to be done, and she dropped the idea. She asked me how I manage this and asked me to share tips to make things easier, simple, and process faster.
I told her that usually, I don’t hire professional cleaners for dusting, and I do myself. I follow simple tips, and it is not that tough either if you follow the same. She asked me to share the tips that I follow, which makes her job easier.
So, here I am to with the 7 Home Improvement Tips of a Pro. I said Pro because these are the 7 tips which Generally most of the professional Cleaners follow.
Keep your Cleaning Tools With you.
We waste most of our time looking around for the cleaning products and tools while cleaning. Have you ever thought that how Professional cleaners do the job fast and perfect? It is because they will have all tools and products ready in their cleaning kit. So first, assess the room and get all the products and tools needed instead of running around for different cleaning essentials. You should keep everything with you, keep it close and do your cleaning.
Top to Bottom & Left to Right
I know you might be thinking about what approach is this. You might have experienced many times that you forgot to clean some of the things or overlooked them as you were cleaning here and there without following any approach. That is start cleaning from Top to Bottom and Left to Right so that you will not miss out on anything. Why I am saying, top to bottom is, when you clean from the top dust falls on the down. And it is easy to clean the down portion if you follow top to bottom approach. Left to Right is for not to miss out on anything in the room while cleaning. I mean, you always start from your left side to the right side while cleaning so that you will cover the entire space.
Soak Time
The Essential thing to remember in the cleaning world is to pre-treating the surface. Before even jumping into cleaning, you are going to take something and soak in the right product and give some time for the product to work for you. Yes, you read it right. Products don’t work in 30 seconds, as shown in commercials. You need to be smart enough when you work in grimy areas like the kitchen and bathrooms. First, you enter the room and do an assessment and decide what all required for soaking and then get the right cleaning products and soak them and let the product do the work for you. You can skip the space that needs time to soak and work on other things, and by the time you come back, the product has done what it is supposed to do. Now you have to just clean with sponge or brush and wipe it clean.
Start Gentle
Do not buy all the cleaning products which you see in ads or come across in the stores as few may be powerful and damage the things. So, you can do most of the cleaning with the basic cleaning essentials. Everyday general cleaning jobs will be done with simple things like baking soda, hot water, rubbing alcohol, dish soap, Vinegar, and hydrogen peroxide. If you have any specific issues like a clogged drain, then you can carefully check and buy products that work best for your problem. Keep it simple and gentle and save your money.
The Eye Level Test
Sometimes you think that you are done with the cleaning, but when you look at it from different angles, you see that the cleaning not done correctly. That is because when you are doing the cleaning, you might not have done the EYE level test. You might have looked at it in only one angle felt happy with it, so left it. So you need to check from different angles for each area after you are done with the cleaning to make sure you didn’t miss anything.
Choose Most Important Ones
Sometimes even before you start, you will feel like drop the idea of cleaning because you are overwhelmed with the things which needs to be completed. In that case, instead of dropping the plan, you can prioritize the things which are the more important areas and which are not. You go into your cleaning space and look around and decide which are most important and which are not. For example, dirty Kitchen counter and cupboards are more important when compare to baseboards as they stand out. So you can try this method for the rest of the rooms in your home. This way, you will save a lot of time and feel less stressed as you are not getting everything done then and there.
The S pattern
Generally, we start our cleaning process in a circular motion, as shown in the commercials of cleaning products. But that’s not you are supposed to do. When you do a circular passion, you are putting the dirty on the clean surface. So, you see marks/stain again even after you are working harder than you are supposed to do, and results not shown up. Instead, if you switch to S pattern that is start wiping the surface from the top right corner to the left corner and to the right corner in the zig-zag fashion till the end of the surface. In this way, your surface stains are cleaned faster, with half of the efforts you spend in a circular fashion. Next time you follow this approach and see the difference.
